Hello Friend of DeakinPrime

Welcome. I trust our second edition of Prime Times for 2015 finds you well.

This edition continues our focus on how blended learning supports the informal components of the 70:20:10 model.  We were privileged to host a recent interactive boardroom discussion led by Charles Jennings, a world leader in building and implementing 70:20:10 learning strategies. Charles discussed ways to exploit and embed learning in the daily workflow using 70:20:10, and how essential this is for agility and sustainability in the workplace.  DeakinPrime’s Head of Learning Design, Wendy Palmer, captured a summary of what Charles covered. We also recorded a short chat (10 minutes) I had with Charles, which covered the main themes from the day, including how 70:20:10 strategies can uplift performance more effectively than a traditional structured development approach.

The other outstanding event we hosted was Professor Beverley Oliver, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) at Deakin sharing innovations in digital learning at Deakin. Beverley led us through Deakin’s journey over the past three years in its strategic quest to push the digital frontier in learning. It was fascinating to see how Deakin has transformed from uninspiring traditional online learning to a truly cloud-based, engaging, rich and personalised experience. Like many of you I struggle with any video longer than two minutes but I urge you to invest 40 minutes of your time to look at Beverley’s presentation.

On a final note I recommend reading our lead article on how advances in neurosciences and technology are changing how we design learning.  Arun Pradhan, Manager Digital Learning Solutions at DeakinPrime is leading our exciting approach to blended learning design, which is resonating strongly in the market.

Best regards

Simon Hann
CEO, DeakinPrime
