Dear HFI Reservist,

Twenty.four hours after the flooding, the reports continue to get more and more devastating.  As of tonight, 22 people are confirmed dead and many still unaccounted for.

Hope Force had a team of Tennessee Reservists on the ground today.  The damage is so hard to take in, with some places looking more like a tornado came through than a flood.  Houses are ripped off their foundation and pushed 50 yards down the road.  The stories of rescues and emergency evacuations are simply overwhelming.  Waverly, TN is a very tight knit community, so the losses are very personal.  The people who are lost or missing are known by all in the community.

Currently the reports are stating that 700 homes have been damaged in Waverly from the flooding.  We are also exploring a couple more nearby communities which have been impacted.  We are asking our HFI Reservists to deploy if you are able; if you cannot, to please consider giving to help this community that is suffering and in great need.

As we walk in the aftermath of this flood event, we will need many hands on deck to muck out homes. We also need chaplains present as residents process, grieve, and recover.

If you can help, please: contact Connie Hasty immediately for more details: deployment@hopeforce.org

If you cannot go at this time, please consider giving to the response – and please pray for these efforts!
