Online Learning Tutorials from Michigan Virtual Michigan virtual has created a short webinar series to help Michigan educators and parents continue their children’s education during the extended school closure. Each webinar is approximately 30 minutes long and offers tips, tricks and best practices for online learning. Meeting Kids Where They Are To help address concerns from students, Tara Mager, the Principal at Meridian Early College HS in Sandford, invited students to participate on social media, via email, and directly through outreach by student council members via snapchat to their friends. Tara used a Q & A document guide her team created, then used the live comments on Instagram to highlight additional questions. Tara then took to Instagram to look at comments that needed to be addressed, and one of her counselors Facetimed in to help answer questions. Leader2Leader, Round 3 Join MASSP and Principals from around the state on Thursday, April 2 beginning at 1 p.m. to participate in this week’s webinar focused on the role of building administrators in leading stakeholders during the extended school closure. MASC/MAHS to Host Adviser Leader2Leader Webinar Your student leaders are integral to keeping students and staff connected. MASSP’s student side of the house, The Michigan Association of Student Councils and The Michigan Association of Honor Societies (MASC/MAHS) is offering a webinar opportunity for student leadership advisers on Tuesday, April 7 at 2 p.m. In times of need, in times of crisis, in times of calm - we stand together to do what we do best - Lead the way for our students and community. This webinar allows for advisers from across Michigan to discuss immediate areas of need, how we can support student growth and continue providing opportunities for our students through our programming. All are welcome to participate. Jostens extends digital access, launches “Virtual Culture and Climate” programs for schools during COVID-19 closures Saginaw ISD Resources The Saginaw ISD has compiled a list of engagement and enrichment resources to help educators connect with their students during the school closure. Jon Gordon’s The Power of Positive Summit Many educators enjoy Jon Gordon’s books such as The Energy Bus and the No Complaining Rule (some of you may recall when Jon spoke at EdCon). Jon is hosting an awesome free virtual event- The Power of Positive Summit which features 30+ speakers. Each day during the event (April 2 - 8) you'll receive an email with access to different speaker videos that you can watch on-demand (whenever you want).
