Constiutional Sheriff Training!

We had a great meeting last Thursday!  Many thanks to KrisAnne Hall and her family for taking time during her scheduled time off to come speak to us about what a Constitutional Sheriff should be.

We had four candidates, a representative for a candidate, and a sitting sheriff among the attendees.  Many thanks to all of them who came, it will make it easier for us to decide who to vote for in the upcoming election.

KrisAnne gave a shortened version of her "Constitutional Training for Sheriffs Deputies and Police Officers".  She has offered to come back at a later date and teach the complete lesson; if anyone would be interested in this (probably on a Saturday) please email Sharon at shiggins@windstream.net.

This lesson is covered in KrisAnne's book "Sovereign Duty", available at www.krisannehall.com.

We learned that the Sheriff's office is likely one of the most important offices for us to consider when voting.  We in Suwannee County have a choice among seven this time; other county's can open communication with their sheriff about his/her Constitutional duty.

We are inviting candidates at each of our meetings up until the election.  This is a good time to listen to the candidates and ask some important questions!  Please mark your calendars for the 2nd and 4th Thursday.  Our next meeting will be June 9th at 7:00 p.m.

Quotes

An elective despotism was not the government we fought for; but one in which the powers of government should be so divided and balanced among the several bodies of magistracy as that no one could transcend their legal limits without being effectually checked and restrained by the others. – James Madison, Federalist 84, 1788

The principle of the Constitution is that of a separation of legislative, Executive and Judiciary functions, except in cases specified. If this principle be not expressed in direct terms, it is clearly the spirit of the Constitution… – Thomas Jefferson, letter to James Madison, 1797

Liberty must at all hazards be supported. We have a right to it, derived from our Maker. But if we had not, our fathers have earned and bought it for us, at the expense of their ease, their estates, their pleasure, and their blood. – John Adams, 1765

It will not be denied that power is of an encroaching nature and that it ought to be effectually restrained from passing the limits assigned to it. – James Madison, Federalist 48, 1787
