Helping grow the ‘seeds of success'

At the end of last year two of our home economists had the chance to be part of a two-day event hosted by Wolverhampton City Council and attended by teachers, parents, governors and pupils from the surrounding area.

As part of their ‘Seeds of Success’ day, we were invited to host a workshop on healthy eating. With over 200 people attending one of our workshops the team were ‘cooked’ off their feet with samples and answering questions. We love to use these opportunities to get the children involved and get them coming up to help with the cooking – not least to take some of the pressure of the team!

We were joined at the event by CBeebies Mr Bloom who was also hosting a series of workshops throughout the two-day event.

We had some fantastic feedback from those that attended:

“Excellent and informative – the pupils really enjoyed learning good ideas to use in school.”

“Fantastic every time!”

“Will definitely try cooking with Quorn at home.”

“Yummy.”

Meat-free Fridays at Ampleforth College, Yorkshire

As a directive from The Pope. Ampleforth College already has meat-free Fridays, but trying to please pupils who board at the school both through lunchtime and for their evening meal can sometimes prove a difficult task for the culinary team. It was with this in mind that we were invited to demonstrate how Quorn could add interest and excitement to the menu. Demonstrating a range of dishes that can be served as a snack or for a main course, our team took to the challenge and set out a host of dishes for the staff and pupils to sample.

We’re going to cook up a storm in Halifax…

On Friday 9 March we’ll be hosting our second fabulous day of cookery demonstrations and tasting sessions at The Cookery School at Dean Clough, Halifax. We’ll be showing you some great new dishes and giving you the chance to cook with the products yourself to see how versatile and simple they really are. If you’re interested in coming along please click here to register your interest.
