Chapters and groups led by alumni

Expand your network by joining one of the very first official global IB alumni chapters. Our first global alumni event will take place in London on 9 April.

The chapters are led by members of the IB alumni advisory council and volunteers within the IB community, but we need your help to make these chapters a success:

  • London: Alumni based in London are planning a networking event for Tuesday, 9 April 2013. Want to attend? Connect via facebook or contact the London Chapter's leadership team directly here.
  • Toronto: Volunteers are working towards an alumni networking event for the end of May 2013. Connect with them via facebook to learn more or contact the leadership team directly here.
  • Den Haag: Planning is underway to invite local alumni to the IB's offices in Den Haag on Friday, 7 June 2013 and to a networking event on 8 June 2013. Contact us to learn more.
  • Washington DC: We are building support for an alumni chapter in DC and working towards a local networking event. We're still looking for alumni living in the area to help support this chapter.
  • Singapore: Singapore kicked off our first chapter last October, join us on facebook to help begin planning for the next event.
  • Madrid: The IB alumni advisory council is working to build the alumni network in Spain. Connect with us on facebook to join the effort.

Volunteer at the 2013 World Student Conferences

Apply to be a volunteer chaperone or Global Action Team Leader at one of the four 2013 World Student Conferences!  Organizers for the WSC are currently looking for a select number of university graduates with experience leading students and in-depth knowledge of the IB to help guide students during the conference.

(Photo: Alumna Sarah Larsson speaks with students at the 2012 World Student Conference in Spain.)

Chaperones: Being a Chaperone at an IB World Student Conference is an opportunity to get to know students from many different parts of the world, serve as a mentor, and provide help as needed during the conference.

Global Action Team Leaders (GAT): GAT Leaders facilitate small group discussions and make sure the conference theme progresses throughout the week. They employ ToK discussion techniques in addition to the IB mission and philosophies.

How to apply:

  • Make sure you are available during one of the conference dates - all listed on the ibo.org website.
  • Send a letter of interest along with a resume to ibwsc@ibo.org and be sure to reference the conference of interest.
  • Qualified applicants will receive further details on the roles and responsibilities of volunteers.
  • Housing and meals will be provided on site, though volunteer travel must be arranged independently.

(Note: There are few volunteer positions available and organizers may only be able to reply to the most qualified applicants.)
