HQ Attraction Policy Win for Cairns
Dear Members
As you may be aware, Minister for Northern Australia, Senator Matt Canavan yesterday confirmed that Cairns will provide the permanent home for the office of the Northern Australia Infrastructure Fund (NAIF).
This is a major win for Cairns and will help to cement our position as the capital of Northern Australia.
The office is estimated to consist of around 10 employees and will bring considerable national and international visitation to Cairns from investors and applicants lobbying for their share of the $5 billion infrastructure funding.
Advance Cairns has strongly advocated for the office to be located in Cairns and is pleased that our lobbying has been successful. If there is no delay to legislation, the office could be open as early as July this year.
We would like to thank Sam Marino, Cairns Chamber of Commerce President and Allan Dale, Regional Development Australia FNQ&TS for accompanying Advance Cairns representatives to Canberra earlier this month where this issue was a key discussion point.
As a member of Advance Cairns, we thank you for your ongoing membership which enables us to undertake this important advocacy work at both State and Federal level.
Regards
Trent Twomey
