PreK4 eNews

The children have worked hard creating art about the First Thanksgiving.  Enjoy these treasures while your child tells you all about all about the Pilgrims, their Native American friends, and the First Thanksgiving celebration!

We are so thankful for each child, family, and God’s abundant blessings.  We wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Next Week - November 20th & 21st

Next week will be a short week but the children will be learning and working hard while they are at school.  We will be scientists and explore STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) activities in each class. Also, each class will have a small Thanksgiving “feast” as a reminder of that first Thanksgiving celebration.  We appreciate the donations from parents that make our feast possible!

For the Week AFTER Thanksgiving

  • Bible Verse: Luke 2: 10-12  “The angel said, Don’t be afraid, I have great news! Today a Savior was born for you in the city of David.  This will be a sign; you will find the baby wrapped in cloth and lying in a manger.” (We will practice these verses for the remainder of November and in December).
  • Bible Story:  The Christmas Story
  • Reading/Phonemic Awareness: We will introduce the letter “Kk” and the sound that /k/ makes (think kangaroo and kitten).
  • Math:  #8
  • Unit: The Gingerbread Man (We will read many fun versions of this classic!)
  • Show and Tell: Bring something that begins with the letter and sound /k/.

Reminders

  • Box Tops Contest - teachers vs. students! We are having a competition to see which group collects the most box tops between now and the beginning of January.  Clip, collect, and send in those box tops! We will count them after Christmas break. The winners, either students or teachers, will get to wear spirit dress on a specified chapel day in January.
  • Snacks - Monday through Friday – Cereal, goldfish, crackers, or pretzels.  Dried fruit will be offered.

Upcoming Dates

  • November 20th or 21st  – Each class will have a small Thanksgiving “feast” as a reminder of the first Thanksgiving.
  • November 22nd - 26th - Thanksgiving Break - No School
  • November 28th – Shiloh at Chick-Fil-A.  Visit either Chick Fil A at the NWA mall or on Walnut St. in Rogers and a portion of the money spent will be donated to our school!
  • December 6th – Class Pictures (regular dress code clothing)
  • December 7th - Christmas Chapel (with elementary and secondary students together) at 9:15 in the Worship Center
