UKRI welcomes changes to UK government immigration rules
|
UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) has published an online piece welcoming the government’s autumn immigration rules change on 10 September.
The changes to the Temporary Worker and Global Talent Visa (GTV) schemes will enable a further widening of support that UKRI mobility schemes can offer international researchers.
The UKRI Temporary Worker Government Authorised Exchange Visa (T5) mobility scheme for researchers will expand eligibility to include UKRI-eligible public sector research establishments. Meanwhile, the Global Talent Visa endorsed funder criteria will be simplified.

Wellcome Early Career Awards open
|
The Wellcome Early Career Awards from the Wellcome Trust enable researchers working on human life, health and wellbeing from the perspective of any discipline, to develop their own research identity and at the end of the Award to lead their own research group.
Researchers must have sponsorship from eligible research institutions in the UK, Ireland or low-or-middle income countries (except for China and India).
Applicants must have completed a PhD or have 4 years of equivalent research experience, and up to 3 years of postdoctoral experience. The Award provides salary and up to £400,000 GBP for research expenses. Apply by 26 October 2021.

Research Environment Links Grants
|
The British Council Research Environment Links call is now open. Grants of up to £50,000 are available to strengthen capacity and collaboration between institutions in the UK and a partner in Egypt, Malaysia, Morocco, Thailand or Turkey.
