Fall 2018 Food Science Alumni Newsletter

Greetings!

The Chapman Food Science program is off to a great start for the 2018-19 academic year, and I can't wait to tell you all the latest!  As always, if you know of any fellow alumni not receiving this newsletter, please pass it along...and encourage them to contact Robyne (Food Science Program Coordinator). We hope you'll continue to contact me with any job openings or internships in your company; and share any updates you may have!

Welcome, New Students!

We welcomed our newest students this August, who were excited to inaugurate our state-of-the-art teaching and research labs. There are nineteen new students in all, of which four are international. Their average age is 25.29; and one third were referred to the program by alumni or faculty at other institutions. Thanks for continuing to let prospective students know about the valuable degree our program offers!

Food Science Prospective Student Info Sessions

If you have colleagues & friends who'd like to benefit from a quality Master of Food Science degree, as you have; please encourage them to attend an upcoming Information Session on October 16th, 6:00-7:00pm.  They can RSVP for directions and a parking permit. This info session will include a  tour of the Keck Center! An additional session will be held November 14th from 6:00-7:00.

Student & Alumni Leadershop Workshop- October 19th 3:00-5:00 pm Argyros Forum 201

Leadership professor, Dr. Mark Maier, will host this workshop with exercises and a discussion on what it takes to become a successful leader and take that next career-enhancing step. Pizza will be provided and we will have a post-workshop happy hour! Please RSVP.

Chapman Better Process Control School

Chapman University's Better Process Control School provides 4 day Low Acid or 2 1/2 day Acidified Foods processing classes for food science professionals. This program qualifies for Certified Food Scientist (CFS) renewal contact hours (CH).CFS Certificants may claim a maximum of 25.5 CH for the 4-Day Low Acid Workshop, or 20 CH for the 2 1/2 Day Acidiified Foods Workshop for their participation in this program.  For more information, please visit ift.org/certification or email ifscc@ift.org. Chapman University is also a NEHA Registered Provider, and participants in these courses can earn up to 25.5 CE contact hours.
