In April we held our mini-festival NBcollection in Frascati, and we’re incredibly proud that our six performances and thirty-four performers managed to attract packed audiences – and that our team created such a great atmosphere. Thanks to everyone who worked on it and everyone who came along!

On 15 and 16 May we’ll be taking LIEFDESVERKLARING (Declaration of Love) and 2: DIALOGUE WITH LUCINDA for the first time to the lovely STUK theatre in Leuven, Belgium. Also coming up is a one-off performance on 28 May of 5: ECHO (which we made with ICKamsterdam) in Stadsschouwburg Utrecht, as part of SPRING festival. Don’t miss it!

Meanwhile at Studio Dok rehearsals are already underway for THE BIG UNKNOWN…, which Nicole is making with four graduating students at the Mime department of the Amsterdam School of the Arts. The premiere’s going to be on 16 June at Het Veem Theater in Amsterdam, and after that it will be the opening show at Amsterdam’s ITs Festival, followed by shows at Korzo theatre in The Hague and De Parade festival in Amsterdam. And this summer we’ll be back again in Vondelpark’s outdoor theatre, bringing a touch of magical tranquillity to the park with a performance of 4: STILL LIFE.

Almost a year has passed since 5: ECHO premiered to a packed audience at Amsterdam’s Stadsschouwburg. Following the national tour and shorter versions performed at events including TEDxAmsterdam, it’ll be rounding off the season on 28 May with a show at Stadsschouwburg Utrecht, as part of SPRING. And it’s set to be a special event because this time Hillary Blake Firestone is going to perform the solo. Exciting stuff!

This year is all about research into the square and public space – in preparation for 6: THE SQUARE, which will premiere at SPRING 2016.

THE BIG UNKNOWN...
Nicole is currently completing a new music-based piece with graduating students at the Mime department of the Amsterdam School of the Arts. THE BIG UNKNOWN WITH A BIT OF NATURE AND EVERYTHING ELSE ON MY LIST OF THINGS TO DO explores the illusion of perfect order in our society, where madness lurks just beneath the surface. The performers wear wearing business suits in grey, black and white. Each of them displays just a touch of individuality: different shirts, different hairstyles, different shades of grey for their identical trousers. From a distance, however, the differences are barely discernible. Everything seems in perfect order. But inside there are other forces at work.

PREVIEW OF THE SQUARE
On 23 May we are presenting a section of THE BIG UNKNOWN... at SPRING festival. The short pop-up PREVIEW The Square will be performed four times from 14:00 to 18:00 on the Vismarkt, right in the heart of Central Utrecht.

ROEHAMPTON RESIDENCY WORKSHOP
Roehampton University invited Nicole and dramaturge Felix Ritter for a residency that took place last month. Together with a sixteen other makers, researchers and dramaturges, they spent the first days of spring in London. Over the course of an intensive week they studied the choreography of the public space, conducted observational experiments on Trafalgar Square and Canary Wharf, wrote manifestos for the anonymous passer-by, and lots more besides.
