Alberon Newsletter – January 2012

Dear Reader,

We hope you've had a good start to the year.

This newsletter contains information about a new law to do with cookies. If you run a website, you need to be aware of the law and decide what to do about it. Please read the article below for further information.

All of this is not easy to understand so do give us a ring if you'd like us to explain it to you and talk through what you need to do. Call us on 01865 794009.

We're also taking this opportunity to let you know about two of our recent web projects for the Low Carbon Hub and the Vincent Wildlife Trust.

Best wishes,
Tim and the team at Alberon

The new cookies law and what you need to do about it

In September we wrote to you about a new law that came into effect in May last year, which requires websites to get consent from the user before using cookies.

In December the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) issued further guidance, which you must comply with by May 2012. However, they have made it clear that they expect to see progress being made well before then because it could take some months to achieve compliance.

Please take a minute to learn about the new law on our website, where you can also see the steps we have taken to make sure we comply with the law ourselves.

You should start by conducting an audit of your own website as soon as possible, to assess what changes will be required. If you would like us to carry this out for you, or if you'd just like to know more, please send us an email or call us on 01865 794009.

Website for The Vincent Wildlife Trust

The Vincent Wildlife Trust is a mammal conservation charity. They needed a new website with enhanced functionality that reflected their reputation as a serious mammal research and survey charity.

We delivered a unique and visually engaging design that placed emphasis on the serious nature of the Trust’s conservation work, and built it using Sitefinity - an award-winning commercial ASP.NET content management system.
