Blessings and Thanksgivings

When you experience a loss, many times people don’t remind you to count your blessings. It’s up to you to open your heart, painfully wide, to include both grief and gratitude. You make room. For my part, I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to marry the man who was my hero as a young girl in Iowa. My heart swells with gratitude for this and for so much more.

I always looked forward to Sharm’s special Thanksgiving email to friends of BCI, and I know that many of you did too. We were inspired by him, and today we see that we are still inspired. Sharm’s heart still beats strongly in the organization we started. Every player, every volunteer, and every young person who is touched by BCI walks away a little taller and with a new sense of purpose and direction.

A few Thanksgivings ago, Sharm recounted the parable about King Solomon’s three stranded rope, and how it isn’t easily snapped. He said, “When comforting a friend, my third strand is always Jesus.”

I am grateful for the outstanding people who support BCI. You inspire each other and you inspire me. With Jesus, two becomes three strong!

Happy, blessed Thanksgiving. Today, I wish you the strength to be an inspiration, the wisdom to comfort others, and the faith to know Whom to thank – every day of the year.

Keep looking up,

Kathy
