In a letter to the editor in the Houston Chronicle, HTC's President & CEO, Walter Ulrich gives thanks to Bob McNair and Texans. In his entry he describes McNair as a "great example of our Texas legacy of wildcatting and the entrepreneurship that is in our DNA". Walter also believes "Houston is a far better place because he (McNair) and his family are here".

HATCH Startup Pitch Competition Accepting Applications Through January 30 |

HATCH, presented by The Houston Technology Center,
is a pitch competition for startups with revolutionary ideas. Twelve finalists will present their business plans to a panel of corporate, angel, and venture investor judges at a well-connected SXSW audience on March 10, in Austin, TX.
HATCH is looking for startups with disruptive product and strong growth potential in:
• Cloud tech and services • Mobile and connected devices • Web tech
• Collaborative tech • Big data • Virtual tech • Media and entertainment
• Health and healthcare IT
HATCH alum and HTC client Qukku is running a “Are you HATCH-worthy?” video contest. The top-rated videos receive special consideration by the HATCH screening committee and the first place video will be played at the competition.
