What's Happening in April and beyond?

So much has been happening in the Volunteering Tasmania offices this month...

Our National Youth Week events are on this week, and we are continuing on with the theme of engaged youth with a training session later this month in Devonport.

And before we know it, National Volunteer Week will be here! And we are all smiling about it because this year, the theme is Give Happy, Live Happy! Find out more about where we'll be during that week below.

In addition to these events, our involvement in advocacy and policy work has been continuing; with Adrienne our CEO attending the Prime Minister's Business and Community Partnerships Round Table on Monday, and the National Standards Review and the Definition of Volunteering Review both winding up.

Take a look at what's happening soon...

Engaging Young People workshops

29 April - East Devonport

Is your organisation struggling to attract young volunteers? When you do have young volunteers, how do you make sure they remain engaged?

In this great value three hour session, we will cover up to date research and theory, hear from a local organisation whose youth volunteering program is thriving, and engage in a practical brainstorming session with young people to ignite creative and relevant ideas to assist you in the recruitment and retention of young people.

As always, Volunteering Tasmania Members receive a 20% discount.

Random Snaps of Kindness competition

Through an Instagram competition (held from 1 March - 31 March), Volunteering Tasmania (in partnership with the University of Tasmania) encouraged young Tasmanians to show how they give back. Young people from across the state submitted a range of photos using the #kindsnaps hashtag.

We held the launch in Hobart on Monday to resounding praise for the entries, and the closing event will be happening this afternoon at 4:30pm at the Newnham campus of the University. We'd love to see you there.

Give Happy, Live Happy! Join us to celebrate volunteering with a smile in National Volunteer Week 11-17 May.

We have had such a great time meeting volunteers from all across Tasmania over the past 12 months that we decided to spend National Volunteer Week this year travelling around and meeting even more people in public spaces and in their workplaces.

See our program of events here.
