Learn calligraphy at a Fine Arts Friday Workshop

Join the fine arts department and noted Portland calligraphy artist Carol DuBosch for a free workshop, “Calligraphy, the Art of Hand Lettering.” Using supplied materials—pens, ink and paper—learn how to create a beautiful hand-lettered alphabet. Carol DuBosch is a master calligrapher and a member of the Portland Society for Calligraphy.

Phyllis Campbell, chairman of the Pacific Northwest region of JPMorgan Chase & Co., will share her experience in leading the transition from Washington Mutual to Chase at the spring MBA Stakeholder Speaker Series. In her presentation, “Leadership and Managing through Change,” Campbell will share her lessons learned regarding stakeholder engagement with employees, customers and communities.

FameLab

Allison Coffin, assistant professor in the College of Arts and Sciences, will compete in a national science communication contest in Washington, D.C. in April. FameLab Exploring Earth and Beyond seeks new voices of science around the world. The competition is open to early career scientists. Talks are limited to three minutes, without slides or charts—just the power of words. Allison advanced to Washington, D.C. by winning a regional FameLab contest held in San Francisco in December. The winner in D.C. will advance to the international final in the United Kingdom.
