Happy December! I hope everyone ate some delicious turkey and spent time with loved ones over Thanksgiving. No Spend November was a success and now I feel a little better about doing my holiday shopping. But honestly, I’m not planning on breaking the bank for gifts. This year, I decided to make some DIY (Do It Yourself) holiday gifts to save money, and put a little more love into my presents. I made three different things that are fun, creative, easy, and best of all, cheap. I didn’t spend more than $5 on each thing I bought to create each gift. Check it out!

If you’re a high school senior or a college student, it’s time to get some free money to pay for school! The Young & Free Michigan Scholarship Competition will begin in January and we’re awarding up to $85,000 to deserving students. Our top prize is $10,000! To apply, you must answer a prompted question in the form of an essay or a 1-minute video – your choice. And guess what? You don’t have to attend school in Michigan to be eligible. As long as you have a Michigan First membership
in good standing prior to January 9, 2017, you can enter. The minimum deposit to open a First Gear Account, exclusively for young adults 17-25, is just $10. If you’re home for the holidays, I highly recommend you stop into a branch to open an account.

December is going to be an amazing month! This is my last E-Update in 2016 and I can truly say it has been one heck of a year. 2016 has been good to me: full of accomplishments, growth, and fun. I’m so excited to see what 2017 has to offer. I know it will be bigger and better. Follow me on social media for some holiday fun. Enjoy this season with family and friends.
