Greetings from your Community BoardMessage from the ChairKia ora koutou, Highlights from our latest meetingOur Community Board met on Monday 12 April. Some highlights of our meeting included hearing from local residents as part of our Public Forum and Deputations by Appointment. Submissions Committee Chairperson, Bebe Frayle Submissions Committee – Message from the Committee ChairpersonThe Submissions Committee comprises the four Community Board representatives - Bebe, Jo, Kelly and Linda. The purpose of the committee is to provide feedback to Council on its policies and proposals. The Council currently has four big proposals that it is consulting on: Te Mahere Rautaki Kaurera - Our Draft Long Term Plan 2021-31 Draft Development Contributions Policy 2021 Representation Review Initial Proposal 2021 Draft Otautahi Christchurch Climate Change Strategy 2021 We will make a submission on each of these on behalf of the communities we represent. Before we make a submission, the Board members spend some time talking to people in our Wards about what they think so that we can represent your views in our submissions. For example, for the Long Term Plan, we attended local events to find out what people thought. Then we meet as a team and put these ideas together into our submission. You can (and we encourage you to!) make your own submission on any proposal or policy the Council is asking for your ideas on. You can do this online via the have your say section of the Council website. Anzac Fronds to unfurl again in memorial driveA project to reinstate the Anzac Fronds is a step closer, as the Fronds are being fabricated this month. Brekkie on the go at ACTISEach Tuesday and Wednesday morning Aranui Community Trust Incorporated Society (ACTIS) sets up a stall on the footpath outside their premises to give out sixty breakfasts to children as they make their way to school. This is an opportunity to have a chat, share a smile, build connections and help set the kids up for a great day at school. There is a variety of choices each day and so far has included hash browns, croissants, Weetbix trifle, Nutrigrain and banana bread. The initiative is supported by having local volunteers assist alongside ACTIS staff.
