Foundation makes grant for Thermal Imaging Camera on new all-hazards vehicle

Being able to see man sized targets hiding in total darkness from over 1500 feet away is a key function of the ATAC 360 thermal imaging camera system.

The Foundation recently provided a grant to the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department allowing for the purchase and installation of this high-tech device on the department's newly acquired all-hazards vehicle.

The vehicle will be used during hazardous incidents such as hurricanes, severe storms and high risk events that fall outside standard Police operations.

Investigating and Preventing Gun Violence in Our Local Communities

Among the distinguished group of speakers at this year's International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) conference in San Diego, was Palm Beach Gardens Police Commander Laurie Van Deusen.

Van Deusen was also a keynote speaker on "Best Practices" on firearms gun violence at the 2012 Interpol conference in Lyon, France where 89 countries were represented.

Locally she co-chaired a committee, overseen by the Criminal Justice Commission, which developed Palm Beach County's Crime Gun Protocol Policy. Agencies throughout the County now use this "firearms protocol" as a tool to address firearms related violence.

We are extremely proud and honored to have her as part of Palm Beach Gardens' law enforcement effort.
