Head Succession Planning

Last month, I informed the Crofton House School community that Dr. Dawson will be moving on to new adventures at the end of June 2019. This leaves the board with a most weighty responsibility – to select a new Head of School who can build on Pat’s great legacy. All communications and updates related to this process will be made available on the school website. 

We would very much like to hear the opinions of all parents and alumnae about where Crofton House is heading. To that end, our chosen search firm, Perrett Laver, spent the week of October 23rd at the school. The firm got to know teachers and staff, along with some alumnae, parents and students. Our aim was that they hear from some engaged community members about what we are looking for in our next Head. Now, we would like to invite more of our community to participate in this process.

Many powerful descriptors apply in differing degrees to great heads of schools. Inspired educator. Visionary executive. Team-builder. Effective fund raiser. Efficient delegator. Compassionate. Beloved by students. Agent of change. Pastoral care. No two Heads of School will possess all these strengths in equal measure. What a school needs more at one moment in its growth, it may need less in the next.

So, what strengths will Crofton House emphasise as we go out to search for our new Head? We offer two ways for you to share your opinions with us.

1. Anonymously complete an online survey that has been set up by our search consultants, Perrett Laver.
   
   
2. Share your views with us in person by registering to attend a meeting hosted by the Head Succession Task Force and Dr. Gordon Lobay, Partner of Perrett Laver, in the Bains Family Amphithetre at one of the following times:
   
   
   • Tuesday, November 14, 2017, 6:00 to 7:00pm
     
   • Wednesday, November 15, 2017, 5:00 to 6:00pm
     
   • Thursday, November 16, 2017, 5:00 to 6:00pm
