The Canberra Writers Festival is back at MoAD!

The 2019 Canberra Writers Festival is the place to be from 21 to 25 August! Australian and international authors will converge on Canberra’s most iconic venues, including MoAD, to discuss Power, Passion and Politics.

This five-day celebration of literature offers a range of events such as author talks and exciting panel presentations from top-class journalists and political commentators.

Join us within the walls that housed power, passion and politics in Australia for 61 years.

Bob Hawke's telephone and switchboard

The Prime Minister's Suite at Old Parliament House has recently undergone a refurbishment, to authentically reflect former Prime Minister, Bob Hawke's office. One of the objects housed in the Prime Minister's Suite is the telephone and switchboard used by Hawke.

MoAD is opening a special pop-up shop in King's Hall, during the Canberra Writers Festival. 

The pop-up shop will feature products that reflect the history of Old Parliament House, many of which have been produced by local Canberra artists.

Items for sale, include handmade soaps and handmade jewellery, as well as classic Behind the Lines products.

When: 23 - 25 August, 9 am to 5pm

In June the Board of the Henry Parkes Foundation visited MoAD to present a gift of $10,000, to support MoAD’s work strengthening democratic engagement in Australia. MoAD and the Foundation have a shared purpose of encouraging all Australians to be active citizens. In 2018 Professor Megan Davis delivered the Foundation’s annual oration at MoAD.
