Trees help you live longer!

A recent study has discovered that people on different incomes who live in areas with more greenery show less variation in health. In all previous research, it has been concluded that those with higher incomes are less likely to die prematurely than those on lower incomes. However this study has found that in areas with more green space the difference in life expectancy is considerably smaller. The reasons suggested for this are increased excercise or reduced stress...but whatever the reason, the figures don't lie, so get planting trees, it's good for you!

Christian goes full time!

He got out of the way before we put in the back cut...he is still alive.

Planting

Planting

We are fast approaching Autumn, the best time of year for planting. We have done a very unusual and unseasonal (normally) amount of planting this "Summer" as it has been so wet. However, Autumn is the best time because the plants are entering dormancy but still put on a bit of root growth and get established over Autumn and early Winter whilst there is still some warmth in the soil. This then stands them in good stead to really romp on with new growth in the Spring.

Please consider where you could plant some new trees or hedges and get in touch for some advice. We love planting specimen trees, shrubs, hedges and particularly specialising in mixed native hedges. We offer a consultation, supply and plant service. Please get in touch for further info.

London Planes

London Planes are a key part of London's landscape. They are some of the tallest trees in the capital and also one of the most commonly planted. While not actually native trees, they were introduced here over 300 years ago and their high tolerance to disease, small threat from pests and resilience to change in environmental conditions has made them a popular choice for the city.

Unfortunately, Massaria, a disease that was previously only found in Germany and Holland, has been found in the UK. The fungi attack London Planes, decaying branches and making them prone to falling. Very little is known about how this disease spreads but the only course of treatment is the removal on infected branches. As with all diseases, it is important to treat them before they spread or worsen. If you have any concerns about trees of any species please get in touch for free advice.
