Sheriffs + Fun at December 10th Meeting

I am re-sending this part of the newsletter in case anyone missed it.  We hope to have a good turnout and lots of questions for the sheriffs!  We will have information on the Presidential polling being done by Florida Conservatives United, the latest editions of American Patriot News, and other information.  Please try to make this meeting!

The North Central Florida Tea Party will hold its next meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2015.  We have invited Sheriff Tony Cameron along with Sheriff Mark Hunter from Columbia and Sheriff Brian Lamb from Lafayette Counties to come discuss upcoming legislation and other concerns with us.  The Florida Legislature goes into session on January 12, 2016 and will be voting on bills such as Open Carry and Campus Carry.  In light of the events happening all around our country and the world, these issues will become more important to our ability to keep ourselves and our families safe and secure.  It is crucial that we have elected sheriffs who recognize this, and do everything in their power to ensure that our rights are protected.
We also plan on making this a “fun” meeting.  We will have coffee, TEA, and desserts. (If you can bring a dessert to share, that would be great!)   Please come out and meet some like-minded people whose concerns are to make this country a better place to live in.  For more information go to www.northcentralfloridateaparty.org  or call 386-688-9402.
We meet at the Taylor Building, 128 SW Birley Road in Lake City.  This is approximately 3 miles west of the I-75 interchange on the corner of U.S. 90 and Birley Road.

Congressional Study Shows Tweeting to be an Effective Tool for Influencing Lawmakers

Message from Lane Watkins:

As you know, I advocate for organizing and unifying to directly contact all of our lawmakers to insist they support or oppose certain policies and bills.  We need to use all the tools we have available – phone calls, FAX, emails, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

The left has exploited the power and agility of twitter so I advocate we harness it for our cause.  I have told you before that so few people contact their member of Congress, it does not take many of us to make an impact on them.  Here is proof.  Please read this article about how effective tweeting and facebook are!!

http://connectivity.cqrollcall.com/just-a-handful-of-social-media-comments-can-grab-attention-of-congress-study-shows/

Note from the article how a few people tweeting their Congressmen can make a real difference.  Please urge everyone to create a twitter account and start tweeting.  Our allies such as Heritage Action, FreedomWorks and The Tea Party Network tweet and offer suggested tweets on issues and voting.

I will be happy to visit your organization to conduct training and help folks set up twitter accounts.  It is a live demo on twitter so folks get pretty excited when we tweet their members of Congress.  It takes about 2 hours for a thorough job.

Brevard County Sheriff calls for 'good guys with guns' to fight terrorists

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey, who, earlier this week was playing "Wheel of Fortune" with wanted suspects, posted a 7 minute video to Facebook Monday calling for armed citizens to "take on terrorists."

In the video, posted below, Ivey says he wants citizens in his county “to be mentally and physically prepared to respond to an attack, so [they] can effectively defend and protect [themselves].”

"The purpose of this video message is to tell our citizens that if a terrorist attack or active shooter scenario can happen in California, Texas, South Carolina, or Paris it can happen right here in our own back yard," said Ivey to WOFL. "If you're a person that is legally licensed to carry a gun, now is the time to realize you, and you alone, may be the first line of defense for you, your family and others around you in a terrorist or active shooter based scenario," he says.

Ivey went on to say that a "good guy with a gun" is the simple solution to our nation's recent mass shootings. "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun," said Ivey.
