Convocation

Covenant held its fifty-ninth annual convocation last Thursday, opening the academic year and welcoming the class of 2017 to the Covenant community. President Halvorson led the ceremony, and Prof. Kelly Kapic delivered the convocation address. Listen, see photos, and watch a highlight video here.

Enrollment Update

For the first time in Covenant’s history, the number of qualified applicants to Covenant required a waiting list for the incoming class. While our hope is to provide a Christ-centered education for all qualified students, we are encouraged by the overwhelming interest in a Covenant education.

We welcomed 325 new students on move-in day, including 41 children of alumni. New and returning students chronicled new student orientation on Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #CCLAUNCH.

Two Alumni Faculty Appointed

We have welcomed back Drs. Scott Finch ’96 and Elissa Yukiko Weichbrodt ’04 as music and art professors. Weichbrodt is teaching Introduction to Art, Art History I, and a senior seminar in art history this fall. Finch is teaching History of Western Music 1900-Present, and conducting the Covenant Chorale and Madrigal Singers. Read the full story here.

NCAA Division III Membership

Following a four-year transitional period, Covenant was officially accepted as a full-fledged member of the NCAA Division III.  As we strive to follow all NCAA requirements, we need your help! Help us comply with all NCAA requirements by learning more here.

Six New Tennis Courts

This year, Scots tennis teams will play home games on campus for the first time in college history.  Construction of six new tennis courts is underway, and is scheduled for completion in late fall. The project includes the relocation of Covenant’s intramural fields and installation of lights on the new courts.

Covenant College Sunday

October 20 is Covenant College Sunday. We need more churches to be involved with Christian education through Covenant. We are asking Covenant alumni to help their home church focus on the College and pray for its ministry on that particular Sunday. If you are interested in helping your church engage in Covenant College Sunday, review more information and a list of suggested ways to participate.

Homecoming

You are invited to return to the mountain on October 11-12 for homecoming. An alumni BUILD campaign celebration, Jazz on the Overlook, the Highland Games, fireworks, soccer games, and the chance to reconnect with old friends are all waiting for you at Homecoming 2013. See a complete schedule and RSVP here.

Alumni Award Nominations

Every year during homecoming, Covenant alumni awards are presented to an alumnus of the year, volunteer of the year, and young alumnus of the year. The awards are chosen out of your nominations, so please represent your fellow alumni by letting us know what they’re doing and why they should be considered. Submit your nomination for any of the awards here.

Submit Your News for View Magazine

What’s going on in your neck of the woods? Covenant College and your fellow alumni want to hear about you and your family! Send in a photo, and let us know where you’re living, what you’re doing, and what church you belong to.
