Greetings from your Community Board

Message from the Chair

Kia ora koutou,
I hope you are all staying warm and dry during this wet winter weather. There's lots of warm, indoor fun to be had at our libraries, pools and sports centre during the school holidays. Young people can also explore a wide range of events and activities, including the Matariki Discovery Trail during KidsFest, Christchurch's winter school holiday festival for kids. I'm looking forward to checking out some of the spectacular light-based art works that are lighting up our central city and open spaces as part of a brand new event, CHCH is LIT.
Keep being kind and look after one another. Kia kaha.

Highlights from our latest meeting

Our Community Board met on Friday 3 July. Some highlights of our meeting included approving safety improvements for Aorangi Road and a landscape plan for the extension of the St Albans skate park. A pedestrian refuge island will be constructed on Aorangi Road in Papanui and a Give Way control installed at its intersection with Condell Avenue, and staff are continuing to look into safety improvements to Condell Ave around the same intersection.  You can read the minutes to see what else we discussed and find out the dates, times and details of upcoming Community Board and Council meetings here.

Starter skaters ready to roll into St Albans Park

Beginners will be able to join in the fun following a decision to extend a popular St Albans skate park. The Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board has approved the extension following feedback from local residents concerned that the park does not cater to beginner skateboarders and scooter users.
