Bok Tower Gardens 3rd Annual Pink Day June 20
Celebrates Survivors, Raises Money for Breast Cancer Research

Pink PentasLAKE WALES, Fla. – Bok Tower Gardens once again celebrates survivors, raises money for breast cancer research, and shares the love of gardening during its 3rd annual Pink Day event on Saturday, June 20 from 9 a.m. - 12 noon. Fifty percent (50%) of the day’s admission revenues and 10% of the revenues for Pink Day items will benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

The Tower & Garden Gift Shop will host a Pink Plant Sale, offering an assortment of pink salvias and caladiums, as well as pink hibiscus, pink begonias, pink pentas, pink angelonias, pink polka dot plants, and pink knockout roses, among others. Gift Shop retail displays will feature pink jewelry, polo shirts, hats, stationery, flags, gardening items, accessories and more.

More than 20 vendors will be on hand with products and services for women ranging from massage therapy, manicures, and healing oils to unique jewelry, cosmetics, healthy living tips, self-defense demonstrations, and mammography information. All services (chair massages, manicures, etc.) are included free with general admission.

Jennifer Beam, Director of Visitor Services and Programs at the Gardens, says community-based events are central to the Gardens’ mission and a way to stay involved with important causes.

“One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in my lifetime, and I already know four of them.  I’ve had close friends and colleagues who have survived breast cancer.  These women are our mothers, daughters and friends,” Beam said. “Pink Day is for them, it’s for all of us really. If you know someone who is fighting breast cancer or has survived it, or if you just want to celebrate the strength of these beautiful women at a beautiful place, please come out and show your support. And don’t forget to wear pink!” Beam said.

The Blue Palmetto Café at Bok Tower Gardens is also getting involved in Pink Day. Visit the Gardens’ website at boktowergardens.org for a coupon to receive a free pink lemonade or pink sweet treat with any lunch purchase on the day of the event.

Regular admission rates apply for Pink Day; $12 for adults and $3 for ages 5-12. Members and children under 5 are admitted free. For more information, call 863-676-1408 or visit the Gardens' website at boktowergardens.org.
