Career Development

Are you looking to develop your career this New Year?

If so, we have a wide range of courses, programmes and resources to support your career development.

  • Whether you are looking to commence a career in management or to further your skills in this area, our Leadership and Management Programmes are there to support you.  If you'd like to gain a qualification, these programmes are accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM).
  • If you're involved in teaching or supporting students learning, you may be interested in the ASPIRE Fellowship Scheme through which you can gain Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
  • 360-degree appraisal is available for managers wishing to assess and develop their skills.

Navigator

The NEW Navigator programme has been specifically designed for men from all backgrounds who may wish to develop themselves and their careers.  If you feel keen to develop within the University and would like to take part in the programme, please complete the online booking form before 31st January 2013.

Aspirational Managers Programme (AMP)

This programme is aimed at improving the skills and capabilities of those who aspire to take on management roles for the first time. 

The programme is run once a year beginning in April and includes a work-based project and a range of tutor-led learning over a period of twelve months.  Delegates who successfully complete the 12 month programme receive an AMP Certificate that records their learning and the nationally recognised ILM Award in Team Leading.  For more information on the programme and how to apply, please see our Aspirational Managers Programme webpages.

You can find all the information you need on the Learning and Development website including:

  • A list of all courses delivered by all the University's internal training providers.
  • You can search for a course, category or date.
  • Advice on training that may be relevant to your job role.
  • Information on our qualifications (ILM).
  • Details of the mandatory training that must be completed by staff.
  • Links to online learning resources including You e-develop.
  • Access to Trent Self Service to book learning events.

If dates are not listed, or there are no places available for a course, please follow the booking process to add your name to the waiting list - you will be contacted once dates become available.

All course listings are also available directly through the Trent Self Service booking system.

If you are unfamiliar with Trent Self Service please take a look at our Quick Start Guide for course bookings.

If you are a member of staff who does not have access to Trent Self Service bookings and enquiries should be made as follows.

  • Members of the Temporary Staff Bank should contact TSB.
