PH 2nd Grade eNews

We are working really hard on our “I Have a Dream” speeches. I hope you will join us for a special chapel, this Thursday, January 23 at 8:30 in the youth area. Second grade will sing special songs and share their speeches. Please remember no school Monday.

Next Week

  • Bible - We will study about Esther and being unselfish from Esther 3-5, Phil. 2:3-4, and John 3:16. 
  • Memory Verse - Philippians 2:4, "Everyone should look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others."
  • Reading - We will be reading a biography, My Name is Gabriella and practicing our skill of characters. We will also be looking at some poetry.
  • Grammar - We will work on forms of the verb be - am, is, are, was, were
  • Spelling - We will be working on aw, au, and a before l. For example: squawk crawl, saw, thaw, August, Paul, fraud, stall, malt, ball,
  • Math - We will work on measurement (meters/yards; inches/centimeters). We will continue working on Roman numerals 1-30. We will also work on relating addition to multiplication and multiplying with 10. We will have a test on Thursday.

Important Dates

  • January 20 - NO SCHOOL - MLK HOLIDAY
  • January 23 - MLK Chapel at 8:30 am in youth area, second grade will be singing and giving speeches on this day. Parents are encouraged to come!
  • January 24 - 100th Day of school, students may dress up as a 100-year-old.
  • January 30 - We will be traveling to the Springdale Campus to perform our P.E. program at 9:15 am. Parents are encouraged to come and cheer us on!
  • February 3 - Spirit Dress for $1 or more donation to the Teacher Compassion Fund.
  • February 14 - Valentine Party @ 2:30 pm. in the classrooms, more info to come
