August 2021 We recently celebrated a milestone – ten years since the Environmental Protection Authority was created. Over the past decade we've supported boards of inquiry for 25 nationally significant proposals, fielded more than 6,000 applications for chemicals or new organisms, and facilitated the safe transfer of nearly 1.3 billion Emissions Trading Scheme units. We're proud of our work to date, and we're looking forward to continuing to safeguard New Zealand's environment for years to come.
