As we brace ourselves against the cold and frosty winds of winter, Modo wants to ensure members are well prepared. If you're planning a ski trip, heading out of town to visit family, or just running errands, we want to make sure you drive and arrive safely.

Burnaby – Brentwood Town Centre

MORE CARS at SOLO District: A 2018 red Honda Fit (#929) and 2018 white BMW X1 (#1020) have joined the Nissan Rogue, Kia Soul, and Toyota Prius V. For the next few weeks, there’s also a 2017 white Nissan NV 200 cargo van (#902). Please note that bookings in the BMW X1 will be charged at our premium rates. 

 

North Vancouver – Central Lonsdale

NEW LOCATION at CentreView: A 2018 white Honda Fit (#1021) and 2018 white Hyundai Elantra (#1022) now live at 1308 Lonsdale Avenue, at the P1 level of the underground parkade beneath the Centreview building. The parkade entrance is along East 13th Street.

 

VACATED LOCATION at Marlborough Tower: We no longer have a car at 144 West 14th Street. 

 

North Vancouver / Lower Lonsdale
NEW LOCATION at W 2nd & Lonsdale: A 2017 white Toyota Prius (#1019) lives in front of the hedge at 120 West 2nd Street, between Lonsdale Avenue and Chesterfield Avenue. We have a designated stall on the north side of the street, just west of the driveway.

 

UBC – Hawthorn Place

CAR CHANGE at Reflections: A 2017 red Hyundai Tucson (#950) has replaced the grey Tucson.

 

Vancouver – Fairview / Mount Pleasant

LOCATION MOVE near Vancouver City Hall: A 2014 blue-gren Nissan Sentra (#566) and 2012 blue Toyota Prius C (#382) have moved from City Hall Surface Lot (10th Ave) to Fairview Vancity. You can now find them in the parkade of the Vancity on West 10th Avenue, west of Cambie.

 

Vancouver / Downtown
CAR CHANGE at VCC Downtown: A 2013 green Fiat 500 (#641) has replaced the 2012 blue Fiat 500.

 

Vancouver – Kensington-Cedar Cottage 

LOCATION MOVE at Kingscrest Park: The 2018 Toyota Prius C (#927) has moved three blocks east, to its permanent home at Kingsway & Miller.

 

Vancouver – Mount Pleasant 

VACATED LOCATION at Cynthia Manor: For the next several months, we will be using this as a floating location—sometimes it will have a Modo, sometimes it won’t. The 2016 grey Honda Fit (#795) has moved half a block east to Mount Saint Joseph-West Entrance.

 

Vancouver – Renfrew-Collingwood

UPGRADE at Gaston @ Crowley: A 2014 blue Nissan Sentra (#515) has replaced the 2009 Nissan Cube.

Low overnight rates

Need to get your holiday shopping done after work or need a ride home on a wet, west coast night? Take it easy and keep your Modo overnight! We've lowered the overnight rates until February 28, 2018

 

Book a Modo and keep it until the next morning at the lowest rate in town.

Guest post: Sustainable Agriculture in BC

The weekend of November 3–4 saw over 100 seed growers, community organizers and advocates come together for the BC Seed Gathering. Organized by Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems program in partnership with Modo Business members FarmFolk CityFolk, this two day event provided learning and engagement opportunities delving into all things seed. How to avoid fines and make friends

Feeling empty? Need some fuel? So do our vehicles! Remember the golden rule of driving a Modo: don't forget to leave the gas tanks at least 1/4 full. All other members will thank you! For tips on refueling click here.

Having trouble releasing the emergency brake when you get in your Modo? Or, maybe you can't even find it in the first place? You're not the only one! Here are a few e-brake tips from our fleet team.

>>THINGERY MEMBERSHIP DRIVE Fellow local co-op, The Thingery is launching a two-year pilot project in three Vancouver neighbourhoods, and one in New Westminster.

 

Grandview-Woodland, Hastings-Sunrise, and Kitsilano can expect their refurbished shipping containers in early 2018, if they sign up 150 members at each location by December 23rd. Vancity Credit Union will fund 50% of the initial costs if membership goals are reached.

 

Members can borrow sports equipment, woodworking tools, camping gear, and other items that have been donated, or collectively purchased by the co-op. Learn more on the Thingery website.

Until December 24 — Vancouver Christmas Market

Each year, the Vancouver Christmas Market brings this festive Old World tradition to Vancouver. This cherished holiday event offers an authentic German feast for the senses. Stroll the twinkling pathways of a European-inspired Christmas village in the crisp winter air at Jack Poole Plaza. 

Until January 28 — Canyon Lights

Re-capture the feeling of wonder and excitement of the holiday season and be amazed by the hundreds of thousands of lights throughout Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. The suspension bridge, Treetops Adventure, Cliffwalk, the rainforest and canyon are transformed into a world of festive lights and visual enchantment.

Until January 6 — Bright Nights in Stanley Park

During the holiday season, the Bright Nights Christmas Train and Stanley Park Train Plaza sparkle with three million twinkling lights. Experience the lights, breathtaking displays, and live performers along the train route.

Until January 7 — The Peak of Christmas

Gently falling, sparkling flakes. Twinkling lights. Whipped topping on a warm drink. Frosted branches. A snowy beard on a jolly elf. This year, wrap yourself in the magic of a white Christmas at Grouse Mountain. Activites include Santa's Workshop, a light walk, sliding zones, sleigh rides, skating or skiing under the stars, reindeer ranger talks, a craft station and more.

Until January 21 — Lights at Lafarge in Coquitlam

Walk around Lafarge Lake and enjoy the outdoor display of 100,000 lights, plus free activities including workshops, scavenger hunts, hot chocolate nights and more.

Until February 28 — Robson Square Ice Rink

Bring your own skates and skate for free, rentals are also available ($4, helmets included, cash only). More about the opening hours and rates.
