Dear colleague, As the 2016 train approaches its terminus, allow me to thank you for coming on board and joining us on the journey. One that has seen many collaborations with colleagues in Australia and around the world bear fruit. The study on innovation in higher education conducted in partnership with the Australian Innovation Research Centre was a world-first, and has tied in very nicely with the sector embracing increased process and product innovation. Within the VET sector, our collaborative research project Profiling institutional diversity involving NCVER, various Registered Training Organisations and leading VET figures has provided an evidence base for understanding Australian VET providers better, which is useful for governments intent on creating a tertiary system that is future proof. Our flagship professional development program eLAMP has become ubiquitous in many institutions’ efforts to equip their future leaders with the ability to deal with constant change. Our international work this year, particularly with colleagues in Indonesia, Malaysia and Colombia, has paved new paths in our mission to develop more effective governance, leadership and management capacity in the wider tertiary education sector. Every year-end we welcome our newest batch of graduates and this year is no exception. Big congratulations to our masters and graduate certificate participants who successfully concluded their studies in 2016. A major achievement and, I hope, the start of many more successes to come. Looking to 2017, our tertiary education focused activities will continue to provide individuals and institutions with a portfolio of diverse development opportunities. Including our fully online tertiary education management masters and graduate certificate courses, a study tour of innovation ecosystems in Italy and the Netherlands and the revamped eLAMP, which will be available to an expanding international cohort. Before we get to the new year, however, there is a matter of concluding the current one and I would like to finish ours with a sincere thank you for the support for the LH Martin Institute. On behalf of the team, best wishes for the festive season and happy holidays.
Sincerely, Professor Leo
