The L’Oréal USA For Women in Science Fellowship Program
The L’Oréal For Women in Science program recognizes and rewards the contributions women make in STEM fields and identifies exceptional women researchers committed to serving as role models for younger generations. The program will select five US-based women researchers for their outstanding contributions in science, technology, engineering and math fields, and reward them with $60,000 for postdoctoral research. The application will open on February 2 and will close on March 20, 2015. Applicants must have a conferred PhD and have started in a postdoctoral research position by July 1, 2015 in order to be eligible. Addgene is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making it easier for scientists to share plasmids. Addgene is reaching this goal by operating a plasmid repository for the research community. Apply for the ASBMB Science Policy Fellowship before 2/11!
The American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is now accepting applications for its science policy fellowship. This 12-18 month position offers recently graduated PhDs exposure to a range of activities regarding science policy and congressional and government relations and is the perfect bridge for those looking to transition from the bench into a career in policy. Fellows work in the public affairs office of ASBMB’s headquarters, located just outside of Washington DC. Postdoc Opportunity

Postdoctoral Training in Cancer Systems Biology -  Stanford University, Stanford, CA

The Stanford Cancer Systems Biology Scholars (CSBS) Program is a multidisciplinary training program for cancer and biocomputational researchers who want to embark on a systems biology approach to discover clinically-relevant cellular and molecular networks underlying cancer risk, initiation, progression and treatment response. With funding from the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the program is able to offer the CSBS Scholars Program to well-qualified applicants from various backgrounds: (1) cancer biologists who want to be cross-trained in computational sciences and (2) computational scientists who want to be cross-trained in cancer biology.

CSBS is a two-year postdoctoral training program focused on innovative, multidisciplinary cancer research education that seamlessly integrates experimental and computational biology in order to systematically unravel the complexity of cancer. Funding is available for salary, supplies, and travel. Applicants must have an MD or PhD.

Environmental Scientist V - St. Johns River Water Management District - Palatka, FL

This professional position involves independent scientific contributions to the work of multidisciplinary teams, project management and preparation of technical publications related to management of Florida’s water resources. The candidate must have demonstrable skill in elucidating the roles of higher trophic level organisms in estuarine and coastal systems through development and application of empirical, analytical or simulation models. Job duties include conducting scientific research, analyzing data, writing reports and scientific publications, developing scopes of work and managing contracts, maintaining a high level of professional expertise, and reviewing and updating research and management plans. Working conditions include fieldwork, traveling by automobile or boat, and exposure to extreme weather conditions and temperatures.

Highly qualified candidates will hold a doctorate in biology, limnology, chemistry, botany, ecology, environmental science or a related field with environmental science emphasis, plus three years' experience in natural resource management and publication of scientific papers in peer reviewed scientific journals.
