Acas Wales

Dear Colleague,

Welcome to the Acas Wales November newsletter.

This month, we're looking at:

  • Managing people
  • Managing anxiety in the workplace
  • Employee status
  • The office Christmas party
  • Acas Wales Conference
  • Free E-Learning

Managing People

In case you missed it: We've launched new guidance around 'Managing People'. We also offer training to provide line managers with the essential skills required to effectivley carry out their role. We have planned sessions in: Cardiff, Swansea, Wrexham and Newport.

Managing anxiety

Mental Health charity Mind report that 1 in 6 workers are dealing with mental health problems such as anxiety - this can lead to relationship issues in the workplace and can stop people performing at their best. We've launched new guidance around dealing with anxiety - find it here.

You may also find our 'Managing Stress in the workplace' course helpful with mindfulness expert Gelong Thubten. Why not join us in Swansea or Ewloe.

Employee Status

You may have seen in the news, that an Employment Tribunal has deemed that drivers for company Uber are classed as 'workers' as opposed to self-employed - this means that they'll now be entitled to further rights under employment law than previously. If you're worried about the status of your employees, read our guidance or contact us to arrange a free visit from one of our advisors.

Free E-Learning

Acas offers a range of online courses for free - they're ideal whether you're looking to start from scratch, or just have a refresher around a certain topic. We're currenlty working on explanding our modules to include 'Managing Older Workers' and 'Religion and Belief', but in the meantime, you can access our existing courses here.
