A personal letter from the Race Director.

Message from Race Management

From the Avantiplus Hellfire Cup Race Director

Here at race central things have been a little crazy with Sarah being hit by a vehicle whilst on a morning ride 3 weeks ago, good news is that a close to full, or full recovery is possible, but the not-as-good-news is that it will be a very long process.

We are now firing on all cylinders with collective feet from our awesome team filling Sarah's big shoes and we are now back to our work plan goals and schedule. I have always admired and been humbled by the support we get from the team and my admiration for them has only increased. Big props to the awesome Hellfire crew who have supported us personally as well as stepping up for the event.

Changes to our event schedule & what this means for The Avantiplus Hellfire Cup

So with Sarah, who outside of being my besty and partner, is also the other half of our event operations management, dealing with a long recovery (the surgeon's advice is that rehabilitation will take 12-24 months till significant recovery) means Sarah will be needing some time out to focus on her recovery, and I to support her.

Accordingly we have made some decisions around our flagship events The MTN trails Hillbilly 24 and the Avantiplus Hellfire Cup and decided they will now be held every second year. This means the next the next Hellfire Cup will be in November 2017 (don't worry 2015 Hellfire is not effected by this decision) and the next Hillbilly 24 hour will be March 2017. We were considering some of these changes but recent events have confirmed this as the best way forward.

In this newsletter we have our event schedule changes, new events and news for this coming Hellfire. So scroll down the page and absorb these letters assembled by Inca warriors for your perusal.

P.S. Late entries are open for a few more days, closing on the 7th of October  Bag a spot and come riding with us in November.

Happy trails,

Duncan and the whole Hellfire team.

P.P.S Next newsletter will have some news from some of our new sponsors on-board the Hellfire train - Motion Never Stop and Cape Bernier Vineyard, our full Hellfire entrant list and some new trail shots! (Yep the team have kept busy  with even more new Single track and the new start loop is going to be a blast !).

New event dates confirmed!

We still want to have some fun and interesting events on in the times when we normally run Hellfire and the Hillbilly and have decided to go with events that require less demand for us and the team and will be putting on a 12 hour (The K12) in place of our 24 hour and a  2 day event (The Lumberjack) in place of Hellfire in 2016. In simple terms our event schedule now looks like this

2015 19-22 November – Avantiplus Hellfire Cup

2016 05 March – The K12 MTN trails 12 hour

2016 12-13 November – The lumberjack  2 day stage race

2017 25-26 March  The Hillbilly 24 hour

2017 16-19 November – The Avantiplus Hellfire Cup

Post stage chilling line up!

As always we like to keep the race village comfy, relaxing and a place to hang out and this year we have a real variety of musicians with something for everyone to keep the village humming.

Thursday
Pete Cornelius is an East Coast lad who loves to ride and will bring his smooth sound to the race village. Apart from busting out his dulcet tones Pete will also be busting out his rig for the Half Satan. Pete is highly accomplished we are amped to have him on board.

Friday
Brian Ritchie - Back from his northern hemisphere touring with The Violent Femmes and his many other musical incarnations Brian will be playing some kung fu chill in the race village for the sunset ceremony after the big adventure stage - it's not your usual Mountain Bike performance, but we aren't interested in being your usual MTB race either.

Resident Club DJ at Hed Kandi Damien Goundrie AKA Southlight is up for a session at Hellfire central and like master crooner Pete C, he will also be turning the pedals in the Half Satan. Damien is a Tassie expat and goes all the way back and was a pioneer down here frightening the bogans with techno in the very beginning. Since leaving the island Damien, has been laying down at festivals and Sydney's finest clubs to great acclaim.

Saturday
Mat Bayes has become part of the Hellfire family. Matt is a seriously talented blues man and plays the geetar like a freight train. Matt will be playing his driving blues tunes during the night stage.

Sunday
Mystery vibes. We got something fun lined up.
