WYCAS 2015/16 Annual evaluation results

We recently carried out our annual survey into how the organisations using our services in the last year felt about our work for them.  The returns have been analysed and are now available in a short summary report  which includes our learning and response to specific comments made. We are delighted with the positive results we received from the exercise and also the learning to help inform our future development. Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond! The associated news item is available here.

Free VCSE Strength Checker

The VCSE Strength Checker is a new free diagnostic tool developed by Big Lottery Fund with the Cabinet Office to help organisations develop and improve their resilience. The tool asks a range of questions about your organisation across a range of themes including Sustainability, Strategy and Planning and Marketing, which when completed gives a tailored report highlighting your organisation’s key strengths and areas for development. The Strength Checker is primarily aimed at small-to-medium sized organisations but could also be useful for larger VCSEs also.

Companies – governance action required!

An important change aimed at improving corporate transparency took effect in April. From 6th April 2016, all companies (including charitable, community interest and dormant companies) are required to have a register of people with significant control over them (PSC) - a ‘PSC register’. This is a list of individuals and legal entities that have significant influence or control over the company. A register is still needed even if no people are identified with significant control.  Further details about what this involves practically can be found in a helpful recent blog on the Doing Good Leeds website which includes references to further guidance. A more detailed guide about complying with the requirements is available here.
