14 UK Companies Visit Brown School of Engineering
Fourteen UK companies visited Brown to learn about research and the commercial potential of graphene, a one-atom thick sheet of carbon. It was hosted by RI Commerce Corporation, Innovate UK, School of Engineering and IECV. Read more

Danish Renewable Energy Company Visits Brown
Ørsted, a Danish renewable energy company, visited Brown to learn about our research capacities related to wind energy. With its Deepwater Wind in 2018 acquisition, Ørsted has an RI presence. Read more

RIHub: A New Home for Innovation
At 225 Dyer, Brown and its partners have opened RIHub, a “workspace where startups, experts and everyone in between...can think, collaborate and execute--creating innovations that will benefit our community and change the world.” 

RIHub and Brown Launch Innovations in Urban Living Accelerator
RIHub is launching a new accelerator in partnership with Brown and the CoWrks Foundry. Called “Innovations for Urban Living,” the program is for early-stage startups with solutions to make cities more intelligent, livable, and sustainable. Read more

Welcome New IECV Staff Member
Jennifer Vieira, our new Administrative Manager, will support government compliance management, patent database management, and all billing and collections functions for the IECV division. She joins us from MIT's Technology Licensing Office.

Grants.gov Forms-F Coeus to InfoEd Transition Timeline
On May 25, 2020, Grants.gov will transition its form sets over to Forms-F series. There is important information to be aware of regarding Coeus for the transitional period between this forms set change and when InfoEd Grants goes live. Read more

New Research Data Email Address
ORI has a new email address for all inquiries concerning research data use, access, retention, and management. Please email the Research Data Team at ResearchData@brown.edu.

Change in eRA Commons Signing Official (SO) for dbGaP
ORI now has signatory authority for NIH data repositories (e.g., dbGaP), and other data or material repositories that require an institutional official to sign. Jennifer Welch should be listed as SO on all dbGaP requests.

Data Use Agreements (DUAs)
ORI centrally manages the administrative procedures for DUAs that involve research data, including negotiation and signature. Please review the DUA Guidance for Researchers for more information.

Data Access Statements
Journals are increasingly requesting data access and sharing statements from PIs. Please contact ResearchData@brown.edu for template data access statements and to address any data access or sharing concerns.

New University policy for Data Protection Standards
Brown defines data risk levels and maintains security standards for servers. University policy next calendar year will require adherence to the standards. Please email CCV for training, staffing & hosting services to help with compliance.

On December 5, Jill Pipher, Brown Vice President for Research and mathematics professor, gave a Congressional briefing: "No Longer Secure: Cryptography in the Quantum Era."
