Alvorens het openrijten ('aansnijden' klinkt ons net iets te plechtig) van de Kerstkalkoen toveren de mannen van Alcatraz nog een leuk konijn uit hun hoed. Een pekzwart konijn? Neen, deze keer niet. Op 11 december gaat het weer even de goeie richting uit met de Brielpoort in Deinze want dan passeert in ons land voor de eerste keer de CHRISTMAS METAL SYMPHONY. Het groots opgezet spektakel passeerde de voorbije jaren reeds enkele keren in de 013 te Tilburg, maar nu is eindelijk België aan de beurt en dan nog wel voor een EXCLUSIEVE BENELUX SHOW. Voor deze editie wisten de organisatoren maar liefst 5 fantastische zangers en een al even fantastische zangeres te strikken. Wat te denken van JOEY BELLADONNA (ANTHRAX), CHUCK BILLY (TESTAMENT), JOACIM CANS (HAMMERFALL), UDO DIRKSCHNEIDER (EX-ACCEPT), FLOOR JANSEN (NIGHTWISH, REVAMP) en MICHAEL KISKE (EX-HELLOWEEN), aangevuld een 32 koppig symfonisch orkest dat onder leiding staat van JOOST VAN DEN BROEK (ex-AFTER FOREVER). Zijn er dan geen gitaren of drums te horen? Uiteraard wel. De volledige opus wordt gedragen door METALFORCE 1, bestaande uit zes muzikanten die hun strepen al ruimschoots hebben verdiend: MARCEL COENEN (Gitaar / Sun Caged), JOHAN VAN STRATUM (Bas / Stream of Passion), ABEL CARNIZALES (Gitaar / Labirintho) JEFFREY REVET  (Keyboards / Stream of Passion), KOEN HERFST (Drums / Epica) en uiteraard JOOST VAN DEN BROEK zelf (keyboards).

Op 11.12.13 presenteert Alcatraz Concerts, geheel in haar eigen stijl, een unieke metal-opera die u niet mag missen! Enkel de beste metalsongs allertijden staan op de playlist van prog tot thrash, van industrial tot death metal en van speed tot NWOBHM.

Wie dacht dat onze officer de natte Belgische herfst zou ruilen voor de warme Californische stranden heeft verkeerd gedacht. Mr. nice guy blijft gewoon in België. De reden is deze keer (uitzonderlijk) niet het Belgische bier, maar wel de op til staande film van zijn streekgenoten: Metallica. Nu, of het de beste vrienden zijn weten we niet. In de Bay Area doet immers het verhaal de ronde dat Metallica bij een fotoshoot jaren terug op Alcatraz Island een paar uur in een cel achter slot en grendel vast heeft gezeten én de sleutel spoorloos verdwenen was. Er kwam uiteindelijk een slijpschijf aan te pas. We ontwaarden een geniepige glimlach toen we de officer onlangs met het verhaal confronteerden. Hoe dan ook, hij stond erop om als eerste de film te gaan bekijken en als het even kon graag in de 'nieuwe' thuishaven van Alcatraz: Kortrijk. Onder lichte dwang (we onthouden u de details - mes op de keel) werd ons met klem gevraagd contact op de nemen met de mensen van Kinepolis Kortrijk en zo geschiedde. We zijn dan ook verheugd te melden dat Alcatraz en Rock Tribune, ism Kinepolis Kortrijk, u de avant premiere van Metallica Through The Never presenteren.

Through The Never vertelt het verhaal van Metallica roadie Dane DeHaan die tijdens een concert van de band op pad wordt gestuurd met een opdracht. Hij maakt een apocalyptisch avontuur mee wanneer er op straat rellen uitbreken en een mysterieuze gemaskerde man te paard hem volgt. Hoe dit alles zijn invloed heeft op het optreden van de four horseman gaan we hier niet verklappen, maar jij kunt de apotheose wel van op de eerste rij meemaken.

We hebben hier immers zes gratis tickets liggen voor de avant-première van de film, die doorgaat op dinsdag 8 oktober. Misschien is er wel eentje bij voor jou.

People who thought our Officer would swap the wet Belgian autumn for the hot California beaches are wrong. Mr nice guy just stays in Belgium. The reason this time is (exceptionally) not the Belgian beer but the upcoming movie from his old neighbours: Metallica. If they are still good friends, we can’t tell you. There’s a saga in the Bay Area that years ago at a photo shoot on Alcatraz Island  the guys from Metallica were locked up for a few hours and the key was missing. Finally they needed a grinding wheel to get out. We perceived a sneaky smile as we confronted the Officer with the story. However, he insisted to go and see the movie, and if possible at the new Alcatraz home base: Kortrijk. Under light compulsion he asked us to contact the people from Kinepolis, Kortrijk and so it happened. So we are pleased to announce that Alcatraz and Rock Tribune, in cooperation with Kinepolis Kortrijk, are presenting the avant premiere from Metallica Through The Never.

Through The Never is a story about Metallica roadie Dane DeHaan who has been sent out for a job during the show. When riots are breaking out in the streets and a mysterious masked man on a horse follows him, he is experiencing an apocalyptic adventure. How all this is of influence on the four horseman we will not reveal here, but you could experience the apotheosis front row.
