The Pastoral Care Team is open to young adults or adults (at least 19 years of age or older) who are willing to volunteer to support the ministry and work of EYE17. Among the Pastoral Care Team positions are Residential Staff, Peer Ministers, Chaplains, and Medical Care Team.

To serve as a member of the Pastoral Care Team, applicants must be willing to submit to a Criminal Sexual Background Check, provide evidence of having completed Safeguarding God’s Children Training, demonstrate experience in successful and appropriate supervision of teens in overnight situations, and be available to travel to Oklahoma City on July 10 and depart no sooner than noon on July 14.

Applications, position descriptions, and further information are available here.

Volunteers are expected to provide their own transportation to the event. While volunteers do not have to pay for full event registration, they are requested to contribute $120 to cover the cost of meals; lodging will be provided.

For more information, contact the Rev. Shannon Kelly, Pastoral Care Team Coordinator and Officer for Young Adult and Campus Ministries for the Episcopal Church, at skelly@episcopalchurch.org.

Deadline for applying is November 4.

The Episcopal Youth Event is held every three years in accordance with General Convention Resolution #1982-D079, and 2017 marks the 13th EYE. It remains a popular and well-attended event. EYE17 is designed for youth who will be in grades 9-12 during the 2017-2018 academic year and their adult leaders. Registration information will be available later this year.

Young Adult and Campus Ministry Leadership Conference

Save the Date! June 25-28, 2017 in Austin, TX

The Young Adult and Campus Ministry Leadership Conference is an Episcopal conference for leaders of ministry with young adults on and off college campuses. We hope this gathering will be a time when leaders who are new to this work, as well as those who have long-standing roots in this ministry, will meet and connect with one another in order to be nourished and nurtured in ministry with young adults.

More details and registration will be available in the spring! Applications to serve on the Conference Planning Team will be out in October.

Engaging the Upcoming Election

This fall, Episcopalians have a unique opportunity to do the holy work of building the Kingdom of God here on earth by engaging in the electoral process. Participating in the election is an opportunity to be with and speak out for people who are oppressed, hungry, and/or outcast, as well as to insert compassion and justice into our country’s guiding systems and structures. Presiding Bishop Michael Curry reminds us,

“If we who are Christians participate in the political process and in the public discourse as we are called to do – the New Testament tells us that we are to participate in the life of the polis, in the life of our society – the principle on which Christians must vote is the principle, Does this look like love of neighbor?”

As we look toward Election Day on November 8, we encourage you faithfully to discern how you will engage in the public square. The Episcopal Public Policy Network has created an Election Engagement Toolkit to help you get started. Here are some other resources:

  • Watch Presiding Bishop Michael Curry’s election message
  • Read the Episcopal News Service article that discusses how some Episcopal churches are engaging in the upcoming election
