Altrincham BID Recovery Action Plan Covid-19
Since lockdown, The BID has been talking to Altrincham's business owner and managers on a daily basis about their priorities for BID activity as the town starts to re-open. These priorities have been included in the outline Recovery Plan for Altrincham. The BID has been delivering the constantly evolving Recovery Plan objectives and working with key partners including Trafford Council, TfGM, the Stamford Quarter and Altrincham BID Business Task Force members. The plan is being updated as Government guidance changes and new opportunities become available. At this stage, our collective aims are to:
• Work with the businesses to make the town safe and welcoming to the community, visitors and workers in the town.
• Develop a programme of activity to bring people back to the town in a safe and controlled manner whilst keeping Altrincham’s businesses at the heart of the community’s minds.
• Manage a sensitive marketing campaign which encourages people back into the town (aligned with Government guidelines) or join virtual events.
• Promote key messages that include ‘shop local, buy local’ so that the Altrincham business community is supported.
• Offer tailored support to Altrincham businesses so that they are prepared for the changing habits and expectations of shoppers, visitors and employees will
have post Covid-19. Once the next stage of Government guidance has been announced, and significant changes become less likely, we will make the recovery plan available online. At this stage, partners are still inputting on a daily basis. If you have any questions or would like to put forward suggestions, please let us know by emailing info@altrinchamunlimited.co.uk
Update on Webinar with
Cllr. Andrew Western
The BID invited all BID businesses and partners to join a webinar with Cllr. Andrew Western, Leader of Trafford Council. During the webinar questions were asked by businesses about the Council's plans for the town in the next stage of lockdown release.
Some of the questions which were asked included: Q: Hospitality businesses being allowed to use more outside space. A: Cllr. Western responded by confirming that the local authorities were awaiting Government guidance on relaxing licensing regulations. Trafford Council are looking to simplify the licencing application process. It was suggested that a follow-up webinar would take place once further guidance had been received. Q: Request to limit Charity Collections and the Carousel at the Shaws Rd, George St junction to allow for social distancing and queuing strategies. A: Charity Collections are currently suspended as well
as the Carousel, until further notice. Q: Whether individual business support was available for businesses who are struggling to implement social distancing measures inside their premises. A: If more support is required please contact Mark Bamford, Trafford Council Town Centres Officer - mark.bamford@trafford.gov.uk
