We heard from Mike Patchett, Chairperson, Water & Wildlife Habitat Trust talk to the Board about the Ōtukaikino Healthy Waterways and Catchment Collaborative Partnership as part of our Public Forum. We also heard about options for the future Creative Arts residencies programme for Mona Vale Gatehouse. Volunteers celebrated at Community Service Awards 2020Six local heroes were celebrated at the Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood Community Service Awards function, held at Mona Vale Homestead on Wednesday, 25 November 2020. Angela Brown for over 15 years voluntary work at St Barnabas Fendalton working with families from the community. Andrea Fisk for 6 years voluntary work with Citizen’s Advice Bureau providing information and support to the public. Neil Lancaster for 8 years voluntary work with Citizen’s Advice Bureau. Vijayakumar Nainamalai for his voluntary work in promoting the Tamil language and his work with the Canterbury Indian Tamil Association. Binod Parajuli for his voluntary work for the Nepal New Zealand Friendship Society of Canterbury Inc, in particular the Namaste Nepal radio programme. Bishopdale Village Green opening a successThanks to everyone who came along to the the Bishopdale Village Green opening last month. Big splash at Jellie Park Pool PartyThanks to everyone who came along to the Jellie Park Pool Party last week! Students enjoyed the pool and hydroslide, sausage sizzle and live entertainment. It was a great way to finish out the school year. See you at the pool this summer for more fun. Christmas celebrations at Fendalton Walk and TalkA big congratulations to our team that co-ordinate the Fendalton Walk and Talk group – Nicky our fabulous leader, Viv and Denise our awesome weekly volunteers all show commitment and passion week in and week out. Yesterday we walked and shared a lovely Christmas morning tea together with a great turnout of about 40 people. Pat (94) and Dorothy and Viv who have all been involved from the beginning, recently celebrated the group's 20th anniversary and they are still regulars each week. Community Recreation hard at work ! The Edge NYE20 party is being held in North Hagley Park and will be headlined by Kiwi music legends The Black Seeds. The event starts at 6pm with a special kids’ countdown held at 8pm, before The Black Seeds take to the stage at 11pm to bring in the New Year.
