Welcome | Luke & Bethany Roque

This Sunday, on the Carpinteria campus, we have the joy of welcoming Luke and Bethany Roque. The Roque's are long-term missionaries on the Sunshine Coast in Australia. Luke and Bethany were married knowing they were called to a life of Mission. Before their marriage, Luke served in Indonesia and Bethany attended a discipleship training school with YWAM as well as serving for six months on the Mercy Ships. A year after their wedding, they moved to the YWAM Kona base for the Extreme Places DTS where their outreach was to Turkey and Northern Iraq. After six months serving YWAM in Montana, they were able to travel to London, India and Australia seeking the Lord’s guidance for the next steps.

They found confirmation in Australia that God was opening a door for them to serve on staff at the YWAM base on the Sunshine Coast where they have been training teams and then leading them on outreaches throughout the 10/40 window and other nations. These outreaches give the students opportunities to work with orphans, work in aids clinics, confront prostitution and sex slavery, and help with building projects while engaging in evangelism, prayer ministry and worship.

For more info about Luke and Bethany, their ministry, and to receive updates visit their website.

Night for the Nations with Luke & Bethany Roque

A special Night for the Nations will be held next Friday, September 19th at 7pm at the Santa Barbara offices. Come out for a time of worship, prayer and getting to know Luke and Bethany, Reality's missionaries in Australia. They will share about what God is doing on the Sunshine Coast and how Reality can be praying for and supporting God's work there.

The Good Life | Santa Barbara Campus

The “Good Life” is the life that everyone is after. It’s a vision of well-being that we’ve been taught to create or chase. Yet it's usually on the other side of the fence where grass always appears greener. It’s the dream that captivates our imagination, and just as often breaks our hearts. Many of us might agree that the Good Life is as evasive as it is alluring.

But the Bible presents us with a far more satisfying picture. Jesus explained that a taste of the Good Life is here with us right now. In his famous Sermon on the Mount, he gave supernatural examples, situations, and case studies of the breaking forth of God’s kingdom in the present age—the Good Life of Heaven coming down into our world. All of this is now on display in Jesus’ most famous and memorable sermon.

Join us as we begin a series through Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount taught by pastor Chris Lazo, starting on September 21st. We meet at the SBHS theatre on 700 E. Anapamu St. Our gathering time is at 10am.

The class is designed around four main vantage points or “perspectives” on the Great Commission – Biblical, Historical, Cultural, and Strategic. Each one is designed to give you the “big picture” of God’s plan for the world and your role in it. We encourage anyone who is serious about gaining a deeper understanding of God’s ultimate purpose in the world to attend.

The class is offered at the Carpinteria campus on Monday nights and at the Ventura campus on Tuesday nights from 6:30-9:30pm.
