Check out some of our upcoming projects in 2012!!

We are very excited about 2012 as we have just been awarded with exclusive projects in commercial, retail and schools where we will be implementing our unique natural ventilation and daylight control systems.

In some cases, we will also be replacing the Building Management System (BMS) and providing unique user interface, so that internal comfort, climate and energy use is maximised across all seasons.

1) Westbourne Grammar School- Truganina, Victoria

Westbourne Grammar School in Victoria is extending their existing building to increase the number of classrooms in the year 7 LOTE centre (Languages Other Than English) to twelve.

These classrooms will be naturally ventilated using our WINDCATCHER® natural ventilation systems in conjunction with WindowMaster™ actuators and the overall building is controlled using our NV Comfort™ System.

The NV Comfort system is in essence, at a much lower cost, replacing the Building Management System while providing unmatched natural ventilation control and occupant comfort. It is a hybrid ventilation system as it is tied into the existing Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) system.

Idle, Vento Australasia’s Senior Mechanical Engineer, explained that,
‘’through intelligent control and monitoring, both internal and external conditions are measured so that when natural ventilation is precluded the control system has the ability to tell the air-conditioning to turn on or off as required. However, the key to this function is that the air-conditioning has to be activated by the end user. This can potentially provide a dramatic reduction in energy-use, helping to minimise the operating cost and carbon footprint of the classroom”.

These classrooms will also include the use of our NV Comfort system to control light levels by using SUNPIPE® natural daylight systems and dimmable lights connected to a lux sensor. The SUNPIPE systems also have an internal light damper that are controlled using our NV Comfort system, so the overall internal climate, lighting and comfort system can be appropriately managed.

The NV Comfort system tells the end-user when it is suitable or not suitable to use natural ventilation and lighting which is also advantageous as energy usage is significantly minimised.

Vento is working in conjunction with Umow Lai Consulting Engineers and Croxon Ramsay Architects on this project.

We will keep you updated on these projects as they proceed.

Below is an example of a school using WINDCATCHER's and SUNPIPE's.

2) Cornerstone Secondary College- Mount Barker, South Australia

Vento will be installing eight 1200mm Square WINDCATCHER® natural ventilation systems into the Cornerstone Secondary College multi-purpose sports hall. Due to the halls diverse functionality, from sports to examinations and school assemblies, our WINDCATCHER systems are ideal with their flexible design elements and intelligent control system.

The WINDCATCHER extracts hot stale air and has the added advantage of carrying clean, fresh air from roof level down to the hall through intelligently controlled modulating volume control damper arrangement, as depicted in the below image.  The system is controlled using INVent fully automatic control system allowing the four season calendar program to ensure that internal temperatures and CO2 levels are maintained all year round, and all for approximately $2 per annum per system!

3) University of New England Pharmacy- Armidale, New South Wales

The University of New England (UNE) is providing natural ventilation to a first floor laboratory and both natural ventilation and daylight to a ground floor mock-up pharmacy within the university. The top floor of this facility will be using our SOLA-BOOST® solar assisted natural ventilation system and the ground floor will be using SOLA-BOOST and SUNPIPE® natural daylight systems, ducted through the first floor, to provide the central pharmacy counter with a great ambiance for learning.

Our SOLA-BOOST is an evolution of the WINDCATCHER with a solar driven internal fan that provides additional ventilation on sunny days, whilst maintaining zero additional running costs. This is perfect for the Australasian climate.

‘Wrapping’ up 2011 in time for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. The Vento team wishes you all the best!
