McGee Award Ceremony Downtown Oklahoma City, Inc. will honor two business and civic leaders and an organization for their outstanding contributions to Downtown at the 25th Annual Dean A. McGee Award Ceremony. This year, long-time business leader Tom McDaniel will receive the Dean A. McGee Award. The Stanley Draper Award will honor James Meade for his efforts to relocate the Oklahoma City Museum of Art to Downtown, and St. Anthony Hospital will receive the Neal Horton Award for energizing the renaissance of Downtown’s mid-town area. This year is the fourth annual video contest inviting amateur and professional filmmakers to capture and present their perspective of Downtown Oklahoma City’s momentum. The winner will be announced at the 25th annual Dean A. McGee Awards and will receive a cash prize, a transferrable Oklahoma City University scholarship and other awards. The 2011 Dean A. McGee Award Ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 19, in the Skirvin Hilton Grand Ballroom located at One Park Avenue. The black-tie evening begins with a reception at 6:00 p.m., followed by a gourmet dinner and award presentation at 7:00 p.m. Attending the award ceremony is open to anyone interested in continuing excellence for Downtown. The Storm Shelter Registry is a free, voluntary service that allows residents to provide information about their storm shelter so police, fire and emergency responders can find them in case of an emergency. “We don’t want residents to be buried undetected in their storm shelter for an extended length of time after severe weather,” said Action Center manager Beth Crounse. “The registry will help public safety officers know where to search during the rescue process.” If your storm shelter is located in the Oklahoma City limits and you are unable to add it to the registry, or if you need to update information about your registered storm shelter, contact the Action Center at 297-2535.
