Get more from EPS in community pharmacy
We’re sending this bulletin to LPCs to help them support local pharmacies and DACs prepare for and get the most from electronic prescriptions when their local GP practices go live. You can either forward this bulletin out to sites, or pick and choose the content you think they’d most like to read and send it out in your own newsletters.

Are you ready?
EPS is live in almost every pharmacy in England and momentum is building among GP practices. Find out which practices are planning to start next. Are you and your staff prepared to dispense electronic prescriptions when they start arriving? Remember they may not necessarily be from your local GP practice. If you don't feel ready contact your system supplier and read the go live checklist.

Support from EPS
The EPS team can offer support to local pharmacies in a number of ways, including attending and presenting at kick off meetings and business change workshops.
Please tell us what else you need to help you make the most of EPS and how you can feedback to the national EPS team the benefits you are seeing in sites so we can share them with other pharmacies.

Nomination
The key to getting the most from EPS is processing high volumes of electronic prescriptions.
Make sure you're setting nominations now, especially for your managed patients and those on prescription collection service, and remember once a nomination is set on the Spine it doesn’t need to be re-entered or reconfimed and it won’t expire!
Read the nomination guidance for all you need to know.

Benefits of EPS
Here's what one pharmacist said:
"It's fantastic you can control the dispensing process from the very outset so you've got more time to process prescriptions, in your own time when it's convenient, order the stock in and turn it around to the patient."
Joanne Rowell, Pharmacist, Medichem, Sunderland.
