Public feedback invited on proposed noise rules

People can have their say on proposed central city planning rule changes to manage Canterbury Multi-Use Arena (CMUA) noise during concerts and large events that will be held at the state-of-the-art facility.

The 25,000-seat, 36,000-capacity covered arena is the final anchor project in the Christchurch Central Recovery Plan and its ability to host All Black tests, Football World Cup qualifiers, big concerts and events will help enhance Canterbury’s sporting and cultural identity, and boost the city’s economy and vitality.

New CMUA Project Director

Canterbury Multi-Use Arena Project Delivery Ltd has appointed Kris Thomas as Project Director to oversee the design and construction of  Christchurch's final, major anchor project.
Mr Thomas took up the role on 18 January 2021 after three-and-a-half years at Ōtākaro Ltd, where he was the Project Director for the Te Pae Convention Centre.
The Sumner-based father of two is excited to lead the Multi-Use Arena project through its design, construction and completion phases.
“My goal is to deliver an incredible asset for the city that the people of Christchurch will be proud of, and will regularly enjoy attending,” Mr Thomas says.
