First Ever HFM Maritime Marathon-June 24

The HFM Maritime Marathon will hug the Lakeshore on roads and paved trails for most of the race, which runs from the University of Wisconsin Manitowoc Extension to Port Sandy Bay in Two Rivers and back. There are precious few marathons that can offer a scenic running experience like Manitowoc County.

Dr. Marjorie Delo, primary care sports medicine physician at Lakeshore Orthopaedics, is serving as medical director for the race and is excited to be a part of the first annual HFM Maritime Marathon. "In a community with so many amenities, we believe this will become a destination race in the years to come. It is a great opportunity to celebrate wellness and also support local tourism."

The Benefits of an On-Site Nurse Program

Work Health Options (WHO) On-site Nurse Program can help employers control health care spending and decrease lost work time of your employees. Imagine having an on-site nurse available to facilitate continuity of care in the rehabilitation process of your employees and provide you with frequent communication of critical information. Let's not forget about being able to insure a safe, cost-effective return to work, or early intervention and follow up. Learn more about WHO's On-Site Nurse Program here. You can also call Terri Birkenstock, RN COHN-S, Manager of Onsite Professional Services of Holy Family Memorial, Work Health Options at 920-320-4668.

Health Risk Assessment (HRA)
Image

Thinking about wellness programming, but not sure where to start? Want to help employees improve their lifestyles, but not sure how? Your answer can be found in a tool called a Health Risk Assessment (HRA).

A HRA screens participants for health risk factors that can lead to future disease. With knowledge of risk factors, participants can start taking steps towards changing lifestyle habits to improve those risks. Health management starts with health awareness.

This comprehensive tool is convenient and completely confidential. Holy Family Memorial - Work Health Options’ Wellness Team will conduct HRAs on-site at your facility. It is a two-step process by which measurements and a blood sample are taken at the first visit, and the second visit is a one-on-one meeting to discuss results with the participant. All results are kept confidential. At the one-on-one meeting, a wellness professional will talk with the participant about current lifestyle behaviors and how those could be modified to reduce health risks.

This tool also includes an Executive Summary to give a snapshot of the workforce’s risk factors. Together with participants motivated to make change, and information from the Executive Summary, a wellness plan can be developed to improve the highest risk factors; resulting in a healthier and more productive workforce.
