Season's Greetings

Season's Greetings from the Lake Union Conference Youth Department and Center for Youth Evangelism.  We pray that God is been gracious and faithful to keep you, your family and your ministry.  This newsletters serves the purpose of giving you the most recent update & report regarding the 2013 LUC Youth Evangelism Congress.

The Reality in NAD

According to the most recent study on youth and young adult ministries in NAD (by Monte Sahlin in Adventist Review), it has been noted that out of 5326 churches in NAD, only 450 churches are actively making the intentional effort to reach the young adults.

"Close to 3 out of 4 (73.5%) are making little or no attempt to reach young adults, and only 8% say it's 'a specialty' of our congregation.  These 8% boil down to about 450 local churches in NAD." - Monte Sahlin

Through this unprecedented upcoming 2013 LUC Youth Evangelism Congress - where the local church leadership is given the privilege to select and support their official young delegates for this Congress - we're finding out how many LUC churches are part of the 450 churches in NAD that are actively reaching out to youth and young adults.

How We Marketed the Congress

2013 LUC Youth Evangelism Congress has been marketed by the following mediums:

1. 2 Letters to Local Church Pastors

2. Posters and Postcards to the local churches

3. Congress Website

4. Newsletters (LUC Congress, Best Practices, NAD Newspoints, ACF and more)

5. Social Media (Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr)

6. Lake Union Herald and LUC Website

7. Andrews University Website

8. Campmeeting Booths and Presentations

9. Conference Workers' Meeting Presentations

10. Conference Facebook Pages and Admin & Ministerial E-mails to pastors

11. AIM (Adventist Information Ministry) Calls to each local church pastor

* The Awareness of the Congress very high. Most pastors that we called were well-aware of this Congress.  But not every pastor had young delegates they knew or could send to this congress.  And some who did has yet to contact their delegates and support them with registration.

AIM Calls & Registration Report

1. Through AIM (Adventist Information Ministry), we contacted 503 churches and 287 pastors.

2. 41 delegates were named by the local church pastors through the AIM Calls. To get the list, click here.

3. Currently, 46 delegates from 12 churches are registered.

4. You can download the list of names by clicking here.

5. You can also see the 12 churches "blinking" with delegates by going to our PointsMap.

6. There are only 100 seats per conference for this Congress.  We pray that God will continue to work on the hearts of the local church leadership to connect and support the young delegates for this Congress.

Call and Connect

We'd like to encourage each and every one of you to pick up the phone or get on your computer to e-mail a local church pastor or a leader that you personally know that could connect the next generation of young delegates to this congress.

Nehemiah and his team re-built the wall in 52 days.  Now we have 50 days before us to seek and find the young delegates that need to be empowered, resourced and mentored for evangelism!
