Young Adult Festival
at General Convention 2015

The Young Adult Festival will run the length of General Convention in two distinct segments.

Why Serve
June 24-29

Why Serve is a gathering of young adults that is centered on discernment of vocation. This segment of the Young Adult Festival is particularly geared toward young adults looking to discern their place in the leadership of the church, either lay or ordained. At Why Serve, young adults will discover how to bring the spiritual practices of discernment into their everyday lives, while also experiencing General Convention and interacting with the church in this unique way. Young adults of color are specifically encouraged to apply. Why Serve is open to young adults only. If you are an adult leader who wishes to come with your young adults to Why Serve, please contact the Rev. Shannon Kelly.

Kindling
June 29-July 3

Kindling is a gathering of leaders in ministry with young adults on and off college campuses. This segment of the festival will focus on sharing stories and best practices for building campus ministries, parish-based young adult ministries, and networked ministries with young adults. Participants will also have the experience of attending General Convention, gathering with peers, and interacting with the church in this unique way. Young adult leaders and older adults who work with young adults are welcome to apply.

SERVING AS GENERAL CONVENTION TECH SUPPORT

Are you coming to General Convention? Are you are comfortable using an iPad? Are you willing to help others who may need assistance with an iPad? If you answered yes to all three, then you are the person we are looking for to volunteer to provide basic technical assistance and guidance to bishops and deputies at General Convention.

General Convention is putting aside the use of paper and is committed to doing work “virtually.” iPads are being rented and will only contain the work of the Convention (what we are calling the “Virtual Binder”). Updates to the information will happen automatically in the House of Deputies and the House of Bishops. It is anticipated that there will be members of both houses who are not familiar with the use of tablets and will need a friendly face to go to for help.

If you have one or more mornings or afternoons to offer your time in this ministry, please click here and sign up to volunteer under Tech Support.

Registration for the Young Adult Festival closes on May 20.
