GreenBlue Names James Ewell Director of Chemicals Program

We are excited to announce that James Ewell has joined GreenBlue as the Director of the newly expanded GreenBlue Chemicals program. James was a member of the original team that founded GreenBlue, so we are delighted to welcome him back to the organization. James has over 15 years of experience working with leading companies on sustainability strategies. He was previously the Director of Consulting and Senior Project Manager for McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry (MBDC), where he developed and implemented criteria for designing and manufacturing sustainable products.

Under James’s leadership, the new GreenBlue Chemicals program will build on the success of CleanGredients to develop more tools and resources to identify and promote safer chemicals as an essential step in the design and production of more sustainable products. We look forward to introducing James to our CleanGredients subscribers and supporters of our Chemicals program over the coming months.

The EPA recently released the Nonylphenol (NP) and Nonylphenol Ethoxylates (NPE) Action Plan to address concerns over potential ecological and other effects. To implement part of the Action Plan, the DfE Program has prepared a draft Alternatives Assessment entitled Alternatives for Nonylphenol Ethoxylates. DfE is now accepting comments on the draft Alternatives Assessment, which you can download here. The comment period closes on November 30, 2011, so please send any comments to David DiFiore by that time.
