No images? Click here Dear FCMA Families, As the first day of school quickly approaches I would like to once again welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year. I hope that your summer has been filled with fun activities while enjoying these warm, sometimes hot, Michigan days. I would like to acknowledge our office staff and custodians for their hard work and dedication over the warm summer months. They have been diligently working to ensure that our school is ready for the start of the year. Our dedicated educators have been engaged in professional learning opportunities to not only keep their teaching skills honed, but to learn more ways to best support FCMA students during these extraordinary times. We believe that student success is attributed to the partnership and relationships we build within our community and this is vital now more than ever. This school year will be a new journey for all of us, but please know that the FCMA Team is committed to keeping our students healthy and safe while we navigate through these unchartered waters together. A few things you may be wondering about before we get started on Tuesday, September 8th: When will we find out who our teacher is? Will my child(ren) be able to meet their teacher before the start of the year? While we have some students who will be starting in-person and others starting remotely, families will still be able to meet the teacher, albeit different from previous years. On Tuesday, September 1st, families will have an opportunity to drive-through and “Meet the Teacher,” as well as pick-up classroom resources. Please see below for more information regarding the “Meet the Teacher” Parade. Will I receive a classroom supply list? Parents will not need to purchase supplies for community use, however, a recommended list of materials for in-person/remote learning use will be provided by classroom teachers. What will remote learning look like? New staff to introduce you to: -Rochelle Cowart, a former Montessori student, and parent to an FCMA student, will be joining us as the Lead Teacher/Program Director of the Bonsai Room. -Oliver Lyons-Kuster, has a background in environmental science. He will be the new Teacher Assistant in the Cypress Room. -Megan Modica, has been the co-lead of FCMA’s Parent Guild, and comes to us with over 12 years of Early Childhood Education experience. She will be the new Teacher Assistant in the Acacia Room. As you see these new faces around the school, please do not hesitate to introduce yourself. In addition to new faces, we also have some staff stepping into new roles: -Anastasia Collins, will be moving from being the Teacher Assistant in the Magnolia Room to the Lead Teacher. -Rose Hess, will be moving from being the Lead Teacher in the Magnolia Room to the Lead Teacher in the Cypress Room.
